It's PARTY TIME!

Hey Council,
Time to start thinkin' 'bout the Band Fall Party. If you have ideas about things email or tell me as soon as possible so I can share that with our parents who are coordinating this event. We will need you to volunteer some of your time at the party to help with the games. I'll have a sign up sheet the week of the party for you to sign up to work. Plan to stay after school on the 23rd so you can help us decorate and set up. Also plan to stay a little after the party to help tear down and clean up!
Great work at the football game! You were great leaders and workers :)

Great Job at the Dance- Now for the Football Game!

Hey Guys,
Great job helping at the dance! I hope you had fun as you worked. Now for the next job!
Pep Rally & Football Game:
For the Pep Rally we need your help getting equipment BACK from the gym at the end and getting it put back in the appropriate place (not in the middle of the room). This is where LEAD BY EXAMPLE comes into play- show people where to put the equipment and encourage them to do so as well.

Football Game:
  • You get to load first on the bus but we need some of you to help by getting coolers and stands on the truck before we go.
  • You need to get off the bus first at the game.
  • We need you to help unload the coolers and stands at the game- you will take the coolers to the ramp where we enter and leave them there at the bottom. The stands will go to the first row of seats and then be passed out to those needing them. Understand that you may need to wait to unpack your instrument after we unload these items.
  • In the stands- Please help keep fellow band members from playing on their instruments when we are not ALL playing. Help us encourage (politely) those people who want to move seats or do things that are inappropriate for football games.
  • When it's water time we will tell you to come down and help pass them out.
  • When it's pizza time we may ask you to help if we don't have enough parents to help, but otherwise you will eat with everyone else.
  • When it's time to collect trash in the stands we need your help gathering and getting the trash into the bag- recyclables into a separate bag.
  • MAY BE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU DO: At the end of the game you need to stay back and help clear the stands of any leftover trash, items, etc... You will be the last to get on the bus at the end of the game- but it will all have been worth it!
If you have questions ask me!
Your help is greatly appreciated and so necessary to have things go smoothly!

Thanks,
~Mrs. Amato

The Dance- Yippy!!

Hey Council!

Here's the skinny on the dance:
You need to be here after school to help with any last minute set up. Then we need you to help work the 6th grade dance- it goes from 4:30-6pm. We need help cleaning up between the dance then after that you get to enjoy your own dance! You get into your dance for free :)

Following the dances we need your help cleaning up- plan to stick around about 15-30 minutes after the dance to help clean up.

Thanks!!

DESCRIPTION OF OFFICERS

President:

The president will be responsible for the entire council. They will help set meeting dates and keep the entire council informed on what’s going on. The president must have served on the council for one year (and must be an 8th grader).
The president will be the direct liaison to the directors and needs to be willing to ask the directors questions, guide others in what they need to do, and be a positive role model. They will be responsible for getting the council to work together on things like bulletin boards, decorating, and inspiring the band. The president needs to be organized and willing to dedicate time and energy to making the band council the best it’s ever been!

Vice President:

The vice president will be responsible for helping the president with anything and everything. They will also be responsible for being a leader and liaison to the beginning band. The vice president needs to be willing to help the “little guy”, meet with the directors, guide others in what they need to do, and be a positive role model. The vice president needs to be ready and willing to help in all instances and to be mostly concerned about the interests of the beginners in the “big picture” of band.

Historian/Secretary:

The historian/secretary will be responsible for documenting the activities of the band and band council. They will be responsible for taking notes at all meetings as well as creating any documents needed for distribution to the council or the band. In regards to documenting the activities of the band they will need to take pictures and journal about activities therefore they will need to be available for all events. The historian/secretary is strongly encouraged to find other members to help them collect photos and create a scrapbook for the year. The historian/secretary needs to have a lot of free time, be creative, and outgoing to be sure to capture all the great activities the band is involved in!
